Freedom has Been Taken.

Faith unknown,
Peace unfelt,
Joy running away,
Light fading,
Strength failing fast,
Unrest is all astir.

Slipping, falling fast,
Crying, tears of regret and pain,
Tears if rejection and shame,
I’ve been abused and misused,
Beaten and held down,
No one has ever come to my rescue.

Heart to broken to beat,
Mind to full to think,
Hands to shaking to hold,
Feet to small to walk,
Wings to torn to fly,
Chained to this hideous earth,
That I once soared above.

Love never receiving,
Happiness long gone,
Mercy shown not,
Hope disrupted,
Courage fleeing,
Freedom has been taken.
