Uncaged

Topic: SadPoetry

The thing he loved
About her most, he also despised
Her compassion
Her loving and caring eyes

That which she freely shared
He greedily drank from the cup
But when she offered to others
He would want to lock her up

Her time and loving ways
He wanted all to himself
To take down and enjoy
Then put back upon a shelf

Words meant to cut deep
He used to try and control
What he did not understand
Her generous nature was her soul

He could not cage this bird
She needed to fly free to sing
And in the end she broke loose
And flew on injured wing

Now lonely is he
For his lack to share
This woman who loved
With tremendous flare

Yes indeed it is a great poem.
To take people for granted is a great mistake.
It happens all the time that generosity of heart is taken advantage of of pulled down by entities utterly unworthy of it.
Thanks Shari dear saint for sharing

Elizabeth

I am never disapointed in your story poems. You have a remarkable gift with this form of poetry. I constantly find myself in awe and in envy of your ability to tell a story with such a poetic flare. My work is less story telling by far, and is more philosophical. I wish I could venture into this kind of writing with the ease that you display. A hell of a job here.

BRAVO!

Oh how this muse comforts me. For such a bird was I, encaged by a fool you see. And so people fear many things, even when they can hold love but never taste it.

Your words fitly ascribed as apples of gold, are deeply profound as has ever been told. To put it plainer, few have ever ascribe such a bird so encaged as masterfully as you have.
This is simply provocative, and uniquely profound.
Bravo…

Love is not about possession,as you so clearly describe.A fine poem, with a salutary lesson for both men and women,
