SPY WEDNESDAY

Contributed by Elizabeth_Dandy on Saturday, 8th April 2006 @ 01:56:09 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

With your permission, friends I wish to say
In Holy Week we feast “SPY WEDNESDAY”
Behold for spies is offered up the mass.
For crafty spies for them to have success

For agents confidential and discreet,
Or reconnoitering the faithful plead,-
In churches, temples, chaples prayers rise
With ardor and solicitude for spies.

To the much troubled Judas- him, who did
Betray, unwittingly, and out of greed,
And disappointment with the Master- shame!
But we “good Christian folk” - we do the same!

Oh we break faith with people, we betray-
And rogues thereafter simply fade away,
Go undercover while they strain their wit
To double-cross, defraud, to bilk and cheat.

Disciples of the Lord - all ran a way,
In cowardice, --disowned Him, did betray,
And Peter “Rock to build on“, - did the same,
He even disavowed the Savior’s name.

This Wednesday, bethink thee Christian soul,-
That God appointed Judas for his rňle,
And would he not His instrument redeem
Who executed the high plans of HIM.

One Spy or Quisling more amongst the crowd
Of pious turncoats that condemn so loud,
Chaps devious and crafty do abound,
Incognito, ouvert or underground,

That for deft cheating take a salary,
While pals and cronies get a subsidy;-
Nod to these rogues and ask them to proceed,
To mark the point where soul and spirit meet.!

The Wednesday before Holy Thursday in Passion Week is called "Spy Wednesday"

Yes Elizabeth, spy Wednesday commemorates the
betrayal of Jesus by Judas. Helps to be catholic to know this. Always a pleasure to read your writes, they teach many.

Hugs, RaquelLeah

Praise the Lord! For Shoure!
