Those who got away unfulfilled

Contributed by holstein on Monday, 3rd April 2006 @ 06:27:29 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Every so often in this aging circle of land

falling teardrops sheds upon a nightstand

to the sound of the drowning of loneliness,

and like an eye reflected flame of happiness burning unlit

they lie all soulful and scattered amid

outdated pulses and feelings stirred to fit the present,

craving for a time that will never reign; nor did,

and I, this voices shadowy twin, is alike them,

always dwelling on threadbare silhouettes of back then,

like a lover of life unmatched and veiled in bloody feathers

I lie swathed and furled within vacant space

silent and heavy as a rock,

now, touching my skin

pure and thin,

looking within

bare and vastly untouched,

now, warmth pulling me up

sudden stop,

coldness from above

mouth opening up

lips drops.

Stilness abides the clicking of time

catering down the last passing lanes

the approach of rapid decline.

Closed eyes, head imploding, thundering flashes

her eyes, her smile, her mouth - STOP.

Epiphany - birth, life , live love, lost

pupils widening, rush, agony, silence.

Couldn't stay,

those who got away

unfulfilled

Nice write. The words seemed a bit uncoordinated but the message was made quite nicely. I enjoyed the poem.
Keep up the good work.
