You are the twinkling star above shining bright in my sky,
You’re so far away and yet so close to me it’s unreal,
Never been through this before it’s hard to know how to feel,
Emotions I want to tell you but I can’t though I try.
You are the songbird in my back garden gently singing,
However hard I struggle to get close to you you fly,
It seems that all my attempts are destined to go awry,
But your beautiful song in my ears is left a-ringing.
I stare out across the skyline and I feel so alone,
Some times I just wish I wasn’t here, that I was at home,
But your light appears in the sky so true and holds me here.
It flies across the sky like the songbird escaping me,
The ultimate of paradoxes it confuses me,
I realise it’s not the city, but leaving you, I fear.
