You're Telling Me

Contributed by Mild_Tempest on Sunday, 2nd April 2006 @ 06:46:15 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

You’re telling me,
Dreams can’t come true,
The sky’s unreachable,
The ocean isn’t blue.

You’re telling me,
I can never go anywhere,
You’ll always control me,
You’ll be here and I’ll be there.

You’re telling me,
I can be replaced,
I can’t amount to anything,
My life is misplaced.

You’re telling me,
I’m nobody, no one,
That I can’t shout back,
That I have to be beaten.

I’m telling you,
That you’re wrong,
That I can change the world,
That I do belong.

I’m telling you,
I’m not worthless,
That I can protect myself,
Cause life’s a fortress.

So believe me when I say,
That you’re wrong to put me down,
And when I’m swimming in sorrow,
I’ll be alive at the end, that I won’t drown.

I know how you feel having people telling you that you can't do it. Makes me want to do it more just to prove them wrong. Good write.

I liked this poem but I will say is was kind of predictable. After reading the first stanza I was pretty sure how it would end. Not that the message isn't great, I think it's awesome. It's just I almost didn't read the whole thing because I knew how it would end. In fact what kept me from stopping was your asking for comments. Keep writing!

Wow nice way to say...F you all I can do it on my own. Good way to stand on your own 2 feet. I like it a lot. It's good to have a strong attitude...it's what makes you someone amongst all the other people. Beautifully put into words!
