Will You Return?
The road we have travelled has been long and hard,
We have seen little relief along the way,
So close, yet so far apart,
I wanted you to know you’re always in my heart.
Will you return to the place you loved so much?
Do you remember how we used to be?
Such great friends I never have seen?
You were me, and I was you,
Living in a sexless dream.
A boy and a girl we started out,
Fortune had never favoured me so well,
In minutes you showed me love I had never known before,
I never have seen it again.
All else is grey and white,
Next to the colour you gave my life,
We never touched each other except in the embrace of friends,
No woman since has educated me so.
I wish more than anything,
More than my life that you had never had to go.
Still friendship binds not like a sexual love,
Distance gives us no problem,
Even in your absence you showed me the way.
Do you think it would be too much to ask?
Would it be Too much to pray?
Too much to hope that you might return someday?
I never have told you how much you mean to me.
