Stubborn Memory

Contributed by serendippitty on Saturday, 1st April 2006 @ 01:50:58 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

You can't erase a memory
it just will not go away
so everytime you think
you think of that one day

You can't erase it with pencil
cuz the indentations on the paper still remain
so you can see the traces of it each day
and slowly go insane

You can't burn away the memory
its too strong for flames to destroy
so strong this memory is
as strong as ones love for that boy

You can't just cover it up with material
that would make you weak
because each day you'd stare
and want to take a peek

You can't wash your hands of it
because the scent of it lingers on you skin
it lingers in you mind and heart
it lingers so much within

You can't get an exorcist
because the memory is not bad
it is not harmful to the soul
but oh so very sad

You can't erase that one fateful day
when you finally got your courage on track
and told him how you felt
and he didn't love you back

I cant belive no one commented on this. This is a very esquisit write. And I love the ending. All of us have questioned in some way why that person doesn't love you back. It's hard to take, it's hard to realize. But Im sure you'll find or have found that one true person who will love you like you love them. Take care. Kimberly

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
