Every Morning is a Memory (what can we do?)

What can we do?
What can any of us do?
Bottles of beer
stumble over city streets.
Needles swim death
in every perfect sea.
The night is a statute of sorrow.
Every morning is an empty cigarette
a headache
a cup of instant coffee.
Every morning is a memory
memorizing the perfect pink
pallets signing in the sun.
There is a tattered flight
of fancy in my dreams.
Children in rags
smiling superior smiles
smiling somber sick
and cold.
What can we do?
What can any of us do?

it's "singing in the sun" rather than, "signing in sun"
evidence to my morning headaches... |
