Take Me With You
(For Kim)
take me with you
take me with you please
I’ll get the vaccination
I don’t have mumps or measles or any other Yankee disease
we could walk the streets in Your Up
collect the franc and spend the pound
make like heroes with the Euros
ride the metro drive the chunnel blush in Amsterdam
take me with you
there’s low maintenance for me
as rich or poor I’m always happy
I can cook I can clean
a Texan on the continent
they would laugh at how I talk
this alien an Occident
I could learn to walk the walk
I would bistro you up the Left Bank
and roll you over in Dover
we would play in Calais
we’d throw coins in the Seine they are stamped with our American names
in Milan I’d hold your hand and be gentle as a fawn
I’d portage my girl in Portugal
and Alp you with a smile
ziss you on your honey zips when we breach the Zuider Zee
we will moana in Barcelona
out loud say “Holy Toledo” when we arrive at that old town
in Greece we’d get our olives oiled
(no bikini wax for me)
on Sunday afternoons I’d stroll you arm in arm on the vivid Champs d’Elysee
take me with you
take Me
with You
please
I’ll get a haircut and a passport
treat you so respectfully
