Sapphy Is Trying a Brand New Key

Contributed by hautebush on Friday, 31st March 2006 @ 10:22:45 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Sapphy is trying another key
B flat B sharp B natural
Naturally
and tra la la she sings

to get to find to happenstance
romance perchance erotica harmonic dance
Saint Valentine oh won’t you please
won’t you please shoot an arrow for me tra la lee

love’s key at her throat dangles heavy as a latch
Sapphy moves through space in a St Vitus dance

chuting soaring jumping into the sky
jumping is meant for air
air is clear(ly) not seen it’s the where the invisible there
Sappho’s aura radiates there where
there is air
photosynthetic oxygen lingers elemental non-matter clings like affection on fingers
a breath or two 3 or 4
there is a door

a portal an entryway
for Sapphy to emancipate
she is trying trying to believe
surely her key surely her reverie
will match the keyhole and shoot the bolt

affro-dye-tea be good to me
doo wa doo wa doo wa diddy

Sapphy sings
her voice has wings and tremulous she sings and meddles her key

albatross key be
good to me doo wop de de
every knob every lock wants a subtle key
boogedy boogedy bebebe

fidget and wriggle glint and gleam
squirming under the burden of the key
try ing trying not to seem
like a person a person in need
can’t be a real person at all
damn it all then what’s the use
people avoid real ness Sapphy is cooked
cooked like a goose
trussed up a royal pain in the ass
she shouldn’t settle for ordinariness
all the lithe loves are seduced away
by time
by need
by other dames
by place

we all inhabit different space

the fair sex trumps geography
be near be far but be good to me skiddoo skid dee
heart’s needle navigate an uncharted sea
Crusoe found his Friday acci den tally
Maybe I should not seek
my day of the week
nor sail sloop sloop the sea of love dwee dwee

the back up singers pulse into her head

Sapphy you weirdo who would want you
shooby dooby doo
elementary emoting hey school -
girl Wal Mart is good enough for you
must you have the Coach purse new
why do you esteem your you?
you are not a one you are a two
shoop shoop voulez vous

Sapphy, turn down the volume listen not to what used to be
don’t play on your insecurity
don’t take heart at insensitivity be good to yourself there’s no one else
take the key find a fit never give in
if you hurt it means you feel
and if you feel you will seek
and if you feel you will fight you will never yield

here’s my heart and here’s my key
be good to me yomma lomma ding ding
St Valentine please ask for me
to find the door that fits my key
I will not yield I will feel I will seek
St Valentine, who seeks for me?
tellaphoena ring ring

La haute couture awaits your style your guile your innocence lost your smile
Sapphy you are not the glue not the primordial ooze
your forebears want to hang on you
