THE BROKEN PIECE

Contributed by Adelle on Friday, 31st March 2006 @ 10:28:28 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Listening to a song
rekindled is a sudden passion
a passion that I feared would forever be dead
a passion that triggered thoughts in my head
music and words come to me
my vocal chordes start burning
as if a match was lit in my heart
causing my throat to open up
a passion so rusty
finally, once again working
I thought it was dead
it was just temporarily disconnected
the pains of life broke this piece
that opened up this window inside of me-
so then to many,
I became nothing but a closed secret, a mystery
who is she?
Many found themselves questioning
a closed window-
a closed soul shut down, not working
out of order, no touching, no fixing
a girl so out of reach
no one could find her broken piece
so remaining out of order
with a sign come back later,
many days many nights
the passing hours go by
forgotten was this passion
dwindling, faded, gone-
sorrow and sadness lingered in this place
where lied this broken piece
every day, inside a pain increased
not really knowing why?
Right there in my heart
an aching pain, growing, filling it up-
every day, always sick
like my body knew a piece was lost inside of it-
until a familiar tone
somehow passes the barriers and sinks down
joy warms my insides up
like a warm fuzzy blanket
I start to sing all squeaky and rusted
but rather quickly, my engine chords warm up
days suddenly pass by
changed, im singing in my car, everywhere day and night
not hiding this discovery
I’ve left my window open for all to see
the hurt, and aching pain healed
so simple and real,
it was through the joy of singing
which was the piece missing
the connecting piece to my soul
that was so long damaged and broke-
by the intense pains of my life
for a long while, I went dormant inside-
for I turned away from this broken piece
because love was vanished, dead inside of me-
until the greatness of a familiar song
brought back a familiar passion
and the love once forgotten
that I once had for myself within
suddenly started burning deep in
a joy rekindled, a piece reclaimed
in who I am, with passion, my voice, I sing-
