Childhood agony

While the time was to jump and play
beneath the bright blue sky, I slogged
like a mule for a piece of bread and
a peaceful bed.
While the time was to sit and study beneath
a guiding light, I steadied my plight to fill my
plate, danced all night to the tune of a brute’s flute,
’nd falsely soothed me for the shining bright daylight.
Not a simple tender ten any more,
spiteful society molested my infant modesty,
glared the horrible mirror of pinching hunger, to
expose the foundling me to infidelity.
Lost my simple tender ten to the torment world, stood naked -
without love, longing for thy grace to get back my bright blue sky.

This is such a heart-breaking poem.... As a principal of an all girls school in a depressed area, I see lots of this happening around me and it makes me so sad. You have written of this so well...
Keep them coming..

The cry of stolen innocence is heart wrenching...even more so, as I can hear my own therein...
A tearful Bravo!
