I sought to know what love was
Why its ember burned so coldly in my chest
i was engulfed by questions
Why the eyes? Why the lips? Why an apple?
I set out to search for answers
From those who were older, much wiser
But too soon
They grew tired of my questions
They had no answers, they knew very little
They had only learned what life had taught them
I walked through parks, I sat in benches
I asked the trees-
They only swayed and whispered-
I love the wind
In the news
I learned from the rocks
They knew no love; they had no answer
They sat-that's all they knew
The water only mocked me
The sun beat me with its rays
The breeze hugged everyone but me-
I found no answers, I found no light
So I returned to my love
Tired and aged
I had asked so much
I had learned too little
