Hourglass
~
“Forty isn’t old”,
I keep telling myself.
A full, complete life,
Is the definition of wealth.
Though there’s more sand on the bottom,
Then at my hourglass’s top.
I’m not going to worry,
When the sifting will stop.
~
“Age is just a number”,
That’s what old people say.
As they struggle to get through,
Every single day.
“Life’s what you make it”,
Rather it’s short or long
There’s a beginning and an end,
To every single song.
~
“The graveyards are full”,
“Of expendable people.”
Whom many have went on,
To that heavenly steeple.
Time is not extended,
For catching-up on things.
That we’ve put off,
When the Fat Lady sings.
~
