A Letter

Contributed by EmptyGirl on Sunday, 26th March 2006 @ 07:38:00 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

I sit and stare outside the window
Pull my thoughts together
Try to find some long lost courage
To write to you this letter

Dont know if youll see it
A lifetime gone unread
But I have to soothe the storm
Raging in my head

Just cant take these memories
Wish they could escape me
Sorrow comes and swallows me
The ache of life it rapes me

Cut myself again today
I know I said I wouldnt
But then Ive done a lot of things
That I probably shouldnt

I feel it welling up inside
Tears that fall like rain
I bite my lip and ride the high
The pleasure and the pain

Crimson staining shiny steel
So pretty when it glitters
I hate to love the way I feel
The blades they make me bitter

Lost my smile, lost my mind
Thats the way it goes
You lose it all but darkest thought
Sniff the poison rose

I tired to change, I really did
I just dont have the heart
I cannot be who I am not
I wont play this part

I need to feel this emptiness
Its all that sustains me
I need for you not to try
Youre never gonna change me

Said that you cared for me
Then left me here alone
Now Im walking by myself
Looking for a home

Somewhere in the nighttime
I just started crying
How do you tell someone?
That you know youre dying

Not of any sickness
For your body, it is whole
The death of which you fear to speak
Happens in your soul

Love a distant memory
Ive harbored too much hate
Please dont fight to change this
You cannot fool with fate

You just cant imagine
How hard this is for me
But I know that this is better
Someday you will see

You have this brilliant heart
I only have a void
You have so much kindness
I cant remember joy

Think of where youre going
Ill be where youve been
Only wish I could have kept you
My most amazing friend

So Im writing you this letter
Hoping that you see
Youll be so much better
Away from me and free

Not sure if I can do this
But I have to try
Im writing you this letter
And telling you goodbye

If that aint a 5,then what is?! I've been there to,one too many times, now I just think it's something I don't have to do,just to make everything seem just fine! I do it once in a great while,When things are to hard to bear, but another day that goes by that I didn't do it actually makes me smile,& if you have the strength to write something so great then I know someone will see it & soon you'll learn theat somebody really cares!! GOD BLESS YOU!!

DAN!!

I find my poetry flows best when my emotions are flaring. This poem was driven by emotion and it is great for that. Nice work.

Dont ever give up.
It's possible to completely quit cutting.
Everyone can compare their sadness to yours
hope you can find a way to start your life anew

peace

If you were to say goodbye to all of us, we would definately miss your writings. Stick around and see what the power of friendship brings. You have become one of the family here in such a short time. Think about it....Mike

Wow, EG. Powerful words. I'm sure this was hard for you.
Writing can be somewhat therapeutic, however and I
sincerely hope that this piece cleansed you of some
hurt and pain. I especially liked this ...
"Not of any sickness
For your body, it is whole
The death of which you fear to speak
Happens in your soul"

That stanza spoke to me. I really liked this.
It was so honest and true.

~Breezy
