Lost

Contributed by lostinmyself on Saturday, 25th March 2006 @ 07:31:01 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

They stare with dead eyes,
Reaching out for someone
To reach out for them.

They stand, tall,
Stagnating in their own pride,
Not seeing how tiny they have become.

They sit, silent,
Wearing smiles as a disgiuse,
As they wait for another call.
.
A back is turned,
They do not see,
Another of their own,
Fall

He cries inside,
The bedroom door,
His reply is the click of the lock

They wait a day,
To see the sky,
And wait for the rain to drop

She helps the needy,
And in return,
They just ignore her sobs

The backs are turned,
They do not see,
Another of their own,
Is lost

Phil, wow this piece leaves me so sad and lonely feeling. My first thoughts when reading this ...was it about homeless persons, maybe those who must wait for a handup from another? It was filled with this deep longing it seems to "be someone". Probably way off, but enjoy a piece of poetry that leaves my mind chewing on something a bit. Wonderful write. Peace, Laura

Hmmmm...would it be wrong of me to say in some way I do understand it. Maybe it's just from my own perspective. I don't know for sure.

What I surely do know is that you are an awesome poet and the imagery is awesome; sad.

I also know that I really really enjoy reading your poetry and am never disappointed when I visit your page.

Thank you very much.

Tim

Whatever thoughts you might have on it, the ambiquity of it gives us all a chance to glean our own meaning from it. From my life experience I see those lost in their world, not realizing or recognizing there are others like them. Also that those that are there to help and treat them also get lost in their lives too and at times are much like those in need. This is a splendid write, Philly, no matter the actual meaning. Love, Rita

Well, I'm not sure of YOUR interpretation of this, but in my own, I find that it is indeed a wonder, and so sad, that we move through life without seeing the cost around us. Maybe if we cared more about those that we encounter than ourselves then we would all be less Lost.

I find that I like what this made me look into, and I dare say, that Andrew and David are correct; you are indeed a kindred spirit. A smashing write and I look forward to more.

Be Well,
Loende

To me, this speaks of, well, everyone, at some point in their lives. The best of us are not foreign to these feelings, I think.

Powerful piece of work, and it speaks to the heart. That it's ambiguous makes it the more resonating, I feel, because it gives us the ability to make more of it, ourselves.

Well done.

Andrew

ooooh I love a mystery!

This is one of those you could read again and again and get a different meaning each time.

That's exactly what i enjoy about this piece it can be about whatever the reader chooses.

Well done.

J.

I think I'm becoming a fan of yours. :) I may not understand what this poem is about, but something about it reaches out to me and touches a very lonely place inside. What an amazing talent you have. Thanks :)
