Unpeel Me

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Friday, 24th March 2006 @ 08:10:32 PM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

Don't give me no more
of your man-made chemical
Solutions. (?!)
NO Pharmies
to contain me
to supposedly
substain me
You're making me a zombie
taking control of a battered mind
keep looking at me insanely
inanely
Please....Please don't restrain me
in your world of white
I know you want to stone me
debone me
leave me in a gelatinous state
to vegetate
dissipate
in your false world
I simply hate

I'm so tired these days
lumbering about in a medicated maze
Choked in the haze
of ancient skys
with blackened rays
deep set eyes
see only a glimpse of the
horrors that lie beneath

So...
Unpeel me...

If you please.

Penned March 2006
Laura Horner

Laura,

I empathize with your frustration. Sometimes you must wonder if you are better off without all that medication. While it is the available treatment we sometimes get fed up with our options. I know how frustrated I get in dealing with Parkinson's.

Peace be with you, my friend. And remember you are worth the effort.

Will

I really like the way you worded this. It has a nice musical and rhythmic flow to it.

I believe you speak the words so true of many people....or well, at least myself...you know...been there...done that.

*gives you a ginormous hug*

Very good write indeed.

Take care, my friend.

Tim

Incredible Laura! YOu spoke volumes with your flow and form . Yes I agree with this so much. I feel they grasp at anything not really looking at the outcome of things for the person taking the meds. I feel natural herbal ways are best in most cases. I hope your feeling better soon I hate to see you hurting and upset.
Super huggers
Michelle

Yeah that manmade crap certainly fries your brain! the meds I was put on for sleeping also (apparently) had anti pyschosis properties.

Anti-pyschosis my a*** they made me bloody worse I was almost at the howling at the moon stage (only the full ones mind)

Stick to the natural plant extract medication! that's what I say.

Great work Laura more people need to be made aware of the s*** they try to pump into people.

At the end of the day it's the easy way out for them, throw a load of pills at the problem.

J.

How very creative of you! And Bless your heart for telling it so true!
I have a dear friend in the hospital Laura, and she doesn't even have "Sugar" and because her sugar was over 150 they were going to give her an insulin shot! Can you imagine. Hospitals are like wars these days.......get in and get out before they kill you!
My sentiments exactly. I'm 69 without any meds at all..........good genes, but also good living!
This was marvelous!
Warm love

Hello Hippienurse,
What great use of rhythm! I was snapping my fingers to the music of this poem. And its theme is so meaningful for all of us. How well we know the propensity of docs to give us a little pill and make us all better. But as you so vividly express that is not true. Just as there is poetry within you, there is also healing within you. However, this pain has made for a lovely poem. Hautebush

Aw, Laura~

I feel ya in this. Truly. When my sister was medicated, (for just
about any and everything), I wanted to scream at the world.
She was not herself . . . there has got to be a better way.

As for the piece, it was exceptional! You have a talent for getting
across exactly what you want to say, [or at least that's how it
appears to me.] Powerful, these words written!

*peace*

If u eva got on the right meds u wouldn't mind.
The day a dr. put me on Zooloft was one of my best days eva.
I have no side effects an the only way I know I'm taking is the anxiety attacks aren't there much at all.
Good writing as always,
emy
I decided years ago if my brain needs a chemical to make it act right then bring on the pills.

Said no thanks to the bp stuff, I'll take care of it NATURALLY, if you please! Right on write, laura.

You're so poetic. I love your manner of rhyme.
- and I hope they don't peel you: (If they do - I'll boohoo) before you get through, with your menu, of what you do, - so we can enjoy it too. Yahoo.
