I Dare You ((#1))

Contributed by Drapes on Thursday, 23rd March 2006 @ 08:56:24 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Mirror, mirror,
Girl in the mirror,
I dare you to get rocky road instead of vanilla.
I dare you to wear pink instead of grey.
I dare you to look toward the sky instead of your feet.
I dare you to show a little skin.
I dare you to speak,
I dare you to raise your voice,
I dare you to yell,
I dare you to scream.
I dare you to run,
I dare you to cry.
I dare you to spread your golden wings and fly from your nest.
I dare you to stop caring,
I dare you to stop thinking,
I dare you to stop feeling.
I dare you to follow your dreams,
I dare you to do what you want.
I dare you to be who you want.
I dare you to stop trying to impress.
I dare you to be you.

Heartwrenching, yet simple. Eloquent, tasteful, a piece that shows the teenage angst and the feminine shy qualities put together to form a girl who cannot be herself. I have but one question - is she you?
