So How Should I Then Live?? (Part 1)

Contributed by Alison on Tuesday, 21st March 2006 @ 02:14:35 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

This I think of,

The sun is rising only to set,
The rain is falling only to dry up,
The wind is blowing only to keep going,
The grass is green today only to be gone tomorrow,
The days are here only to turn into night,

This I hear,

As Rainbows appear for a minute,
So insight is given to soon be forgotten,
Knowledge is lost in the heart,
And wisdom not sought after,
Truth is lost in the interpretation,

This I see,

People were born only to die,
People trust only to be betrayed,
People are beautiful only to one day be hideous,
People follow blindly only to claim they can see,
People say they love only to change their minds,

This I’ve felt,

As the mist lifts in the morning never to be seen again,
So is the fleeting feelings of man’s heart,
Hating what is not understood,
Not caring for the understanding of life,
Believing that which is lies,

So this I now say,

Life is meaningless,
Life is less torturous than hell but still to compare,
Life is lived in the night so none can see,
Life is over-rated and never out lived,
Life is held back for no reason to give.

So how shold I then live?

I get the feeling from this poem you've suffered a lot of hurt in your life.
This has manifested itself as an excellent write.
I particulary liked the third stanza i.e

People were born only to die,
People trust only to be betrayed,
People are beautiful only to one day be hideous,
People follow blindly only to claim they can see,
People say they love only to change their minds.

Great work.

J.

By reading this, you really end up asking yourself: How should I then live?

Very right.

I feel that the only thing letting this poem down is that spelling mistake at the end. Always remember to preview your work a last time before posting, eh? ;)

I love the second stanza. I love the message in it, and the rainbow.

One thing I will say though, is that if you saw a rainbow every day, would they be as special?

I think sometimes the things that hardly ever appear are the most special things of all.

Remember, there is always hope ;)

Good write,

*hugs*
