Code Of Life

Topic: Lifepoems

You told me once
We begin to die at birth
That we must live our lives
To the fullest
Because we are dying
I thought about this
After you left my arms
Your kisses still wet upon my lips
Your scent still lingering
I thought about death
And the process of dying
I thought about love
And the evil of hatred
I closed my eyes
And felt your warmth
I closed my eyes
And heard your voice
The way you call me sweetheard
Even after you scared me
Scared me in a way
That makes me jump
And my heart race
Scared me in a way
That makes decades disappear
A look I gave you once
Revealed my secret
The look you give me
Tells me
My secret is safe with you
My passions
My interests
My heart
You now obtain
You have restored my belief
In poetry
My belief in myself
You have strengthened me
Given me the courage
Required to conquer dreams
And make them a reality
You bring out the best in me
A side I dared not show
My emotions run deep now
A depth no longer afraid
To break the surface
No outside influence
Will I allow
To taint my find
The best shall not be taken from me
Not without a fight
The words you chose to comfort me
Have inspired many thoughts
So when you say
We are dying
I happily disagree
I spent my days dying
Each and every day
Until I walked through your door
I did not have a life
Just a mere existence
Your eyes shed new light
Your smile gave me birth
And now...
I LIVE!!!!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
