remember sitting there my friend?
your crowd around and you were safe
you were someone so alive
underneath the golden lights
your dreams were real, your life was free
you were so alive, you were meant to be
and all around you the raucous sound
everyone you loved around
but now the walls are boarded up
the windows closed, barring us from view
the place where once the music sounded
now is bare and gone for you
where you would spend your teenage nights
under the golden city lights
now it's gone, no room for you
for all the things you wanted to do
and as you turn your head to cry
and wonder what and wonder why...
no room for you, your life, your soul
no way for you to be whole...
you'll have to find another way
while wishing for the days of yesterday...
