I am unable to tell you
How many times
I've heard myself
Being compared to others
As if individuality
Can be defined by analogy
If only you were more like him
If only, if only...
What tires me is lack of vision
People looking at what needs to be changed
Not rejoicing in what has changed
Always searching for imperfection
In others as well as themselves
If only she were more like you
If only, if only...
We have all had someone
Alter our image
And how we perceive
Other's views of us
The loss of idenitity
Leaves us feeling guilt and shame
If only I were more like them
If only, if only...
Are you guilty of seeing defect?
Or do you deny your own arrogance
Do you define yourself as deep?
While others see you as shallow
If only they were more like me
If only, if only...
I dare you to alter your vision
Pursue a thought
One vision, one thought
If dared to put into action
Can change the world
Dare to dream of the peace we would share
If only you would love me for me
If only, if only...
