The Prison Room

Contributed by Alison on Sunday, 19th March 2006 @ 04:05:25 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Sitting in my old room,
The room of my youth,
So many nights full of dreaming,
So many days full of longing.
The bed by the wall,
And the lamp of blue,
The clock older than my parents,
And the carpet stains.
Sitting in my old room,
It's noting but the past,
A past that I despise,
For reasons all my own.
I hate it when I come “home”
That name it does not deserve.
I know that others have had it much worse,
But some wounds take years to heal.
Until full healing arrives,
I’m trapped in this prison of lies,
Each bar placed one by one,
As the years moved on and on,
In this prison I feel nothing,
Anymore, just trapped.
Barred in on every side,
The very walls in this room from green,
They turn to gray.
Destiny never goes the way it “should”
For if I controlled mine I would,
Never step one foot in this horrid room again,
This prison of sin.
Still much of life I must have,
As long as on my way I could never stay,
Once again in this room so gray,
And I am not grown yet,
Though more than anything,
More than love, more than hate,
I wish from this prison I could forever escape,
Wish I was far, far away from this fate.

You have got your feelings of hurt over well here.

A skilfully written piece.

Well done.
