MY BACKYARD

As I walk out my back door and look into my big backyard
One would think it is quite plain until you have looked real hard
To see all the different things that make my place unique
So many things to show you So many things to meet
First of all the peacocks with beautiful feathers held high
Then the white fantail pidgeons fluttering around the sky
Geanea foul chatter madlychasing a bug or two
And off into the distance we can hear a cockatoo
There are Red Wings, Princess, Superbs,Yellowhead, Eastern and King,
Mallee Ringnecks, Crimson and Lorekeets, Boy, you should hear them sing
we have one little quail called Snowy who is very very old
He sleeps with the baby rabbits so he can beat the cold
The rabbits they love breeding constantly which is really good for me
As I take them to the markets and sell them for a $10 fee
Are you starting to get the picture of my place up in the hills
I am only halfway through my story and boy I"ve some food bills
Next we have an old tennis court that has seen some better days
Now it is my chook yard and in it others now play
First of all theres gertrude my poor old lame goose
And her pal ducky lucky they try to rule the roost
Theres the rooster and eight hens who love scratching round the weeds
My two new turkey babys are inquistive indeed
The last inhabitant is Lambsy my cheeky little lout
Who waits till everyones sleeping then chases them all out
He does his little kicks and thinks that he"s just great
Back to bed go all the chooks but lambsy he just waits
Til everyone has settled in and everything is quiet
hen lambsy creeps and pushes them off their perches with all his might
Now I can hear you thinking what a madhouse I live in
I have only begun to tell you of my merry little din
I also have 2 cats and a dog and their not normal too
Which just adds to the excitment of this unusual zoo
One cat is really old and sits a round all day
The other brings home lots of mice for my dog to have a play
He goes off down the paddock and carries home the mice
My dog, Sumo, sits by the gate and wait she thinks that its so nice

But wait I"M not quite finished theres some more I havent mentioned
Owen Gavin and Rhiannon their beyound my comprehension
Why they all love living here amongst this mess and meyhem
They make it all worth the while but please dont ever tell them

Now my life far from boring with all these goings on
Theres so much more to tell you I could turn it into song
But I hope this is enugh for now to keep you satified
I could tell you about the cow but that would make you cry
So one day when your down and blue and wonder if you are sane
Think of your mad sisters lot and youll know what is to blame

Ok, own up, you must be my twin!!
I haven't got as many animal friends as you, but would if I could. I've got 3 ducks, 3 rabbits, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 cockatiel, 1 budgie and hopefully still some fish in my pond!!
Great write, glad you recommended it to me.

Ali
