Midnight in the black oasis,
pulls me in.
it's mysteries unfolding,
it's lure, the unknowable.
Shadows of memories,
lurking in the corners,
waiting to attack unsuspecting victims.
I walk the path an unseeing soul,
innocent to it's purpose,
and I feel the emotion closing in ,
a darkness that wraps itself around me,
erotic in it's pain,
drawing me in,
leaving me breathless in it's torment.
Images of humanity,
float before my mind's eye,
brief moments in time,
lost in a mist of cruelty.
My thoughts almost tangible in their intensity,
of every emotion, every deed,
and the darkest silence,
a solid wall before me.
My own voice breaks through,
and echos throughout,
Is it redemption that you seek?
There is no answer.
I expected none.
The black oasis enfolds me.
Giving me nothing, but more questions.
The walls an illusion of peace and tranquility,
hiding the despair from our sight,
and the ground of black velvet,
covers the clawing tar beneath,
deceptive in it's softness,
awaiting the step that will bring our downfall.
Before me, the beauty of a lake,
as black as the night sky,
so calm , so soothing,
when beneath, it froths in a fever of anticipation,
another soul to consume,
another to be filled with the poison of indifference.
I pass these temptations,
seeking something more,
for they hold no answers for me.
And the knowledge, I find,
is the map to my own oasis,
my own existence,
the truth of my own life.

This is one of the best caricatures of evil's subtle deadly indifference that I have yet to see. Bravo… Thanks for sharing such a masterful masterpiece.
The opposite of love ‘is not hate but indifference’ or apathy. Within love’s pursuit, many prefer to know a person who doesn't really want to know themselves. Yet only to the degree that we know ourself can we begin to understand or know another. Hence, the Mirror of God’s Word is so valuable.
