TWENTY THOUSAND CROSSES…(©Peter Sprenkeler)

My soul writhes in agony as I contemplate the statistics,
This avoidable human saga of epic proportion.
So many young lives are lost each day the world over,
A tragic…twisted…modern day moral distortion.

For most of these lives could indeed have been saved,
But for a little medicine or food…all decency this does defy.
Western Society battles with obesity and apathy,
While Third World Nations suffer and watch their children die!

Billions are spent each day on weapons and armaments,
Fortunes are spent on the tools of killing.
Seems there is little left over to save a few lives.
Not a pound nor a dollar nor a shilling.

Seems like a huge imbalance and moral absurdity,
Global humanitarian care is not being met.
Our selfishness and lack of conscience is astounding,
The time will come…when for this we will long regret!

We cannot go on ignoring the plight of fellow humans,
Callously choosing not to become involved.
For to do so makes us all a lot less human,
Compassion around our hearts must revolve.

For one day we will all stand before our Maker,
And He'll ask why we didn't lend a hand.
So many of His young flock died as we idly watched,
An answer from us…He will DEMAND!

I heard a report this week that 20,000 infants die each day around the world of starvation, the lack of medicines, or just a little money…most of these deaths are totally avoidable…Largely in Third World Countries…. I raise the question…Do we really care?…..and if not….why not?…we should!….(MAY 2002)

An area our western governments sadly neglect in these latter days, an excellent poem that draws our attention to the plight of others in our world sometimes so far away that it doesnt seem very real to us anymore.

For every 20,000 crosses their should be 20,000 fires burning because it is not our fault the world is like this its the people like you that want to care that makes it seem so bad. You believe we can help those who can't help themselves. Well what have you done about it. Sitting here writing books to make money on something you have no idea about. You think you do but you don't. AND AS FOR OUR MAKER HE IS ALSO OUR TAKER
SO GET OVER IT WHO WILL HELP YOU ON YOUR DEATH BED I SEND YOU 20,000 BLACK ROSES
