To Forgive (gjw)

To forgive is to trust again without reserve,
To forgive is to lose all you have and then to give up all you could have without question in the hope of eternal friendship,
To forgive is to look upon the face of the one you hate most and in your heart forget the harm that they have done,
To forgive is not to doubt when your child tells you ‘it will not happen again’,
To forgive is not to hold even the greatest sin against your friend,
To forgive is to see your former enemy and have no other thought but that you gaze upon a friend,
To forgive is to replace hate with love,
To forgive is to give trust in the face of treachery,
To forgive is not to surrender when you are sure the battle for reconciliation is lost,
To forgive is to pardon the greatest crime you can imagine,
To forgive is to see past the pain that a lover has put you through,
To forgive is to allow someone to be themselves and not what you think they should be,
To forgive is to see past weakness,
To forgive is to learn to live with the past, embrace the present and work towards the future,
To forgive is to be the one that breaks the silence,
To forgive is to turn the other cheek,
To forgive is heavenly.
