Ode to Hot Chocolate

Steam rising up from your mug-like cup,
It is smoke rising from a chimney,
Inside the house is a world of its own.
You can only see the liquid brown sky,
And the marshmallow clouds,
But below everything comes to life,
And the wonder begins.
Just one sip melts your frozen insides.
It warms your spirit,
And the taste,
Oh, the taste!
The hot taste of liquid heaven,
A whirl of chocolate sky,
The white islands on the brown sea melt in your mouth,
Like a glimpse of paradise seen through your tongue,
It looks so simple,
But is so complicated,
And it always does the job when you’ve just come in from the snow.
So the next time you gulp down a mug of this stuff,
Remember this:
Nothing could calm and soothe you so,
Like a delightful mug of hot chocolate.
