Storm of Hate

Flashes of light before my eyes,
The sky pours forth unyielding wrath,
Wind harder than a brick wall,
Thunder exploding like glass,
This storm so great,
It must be brought on by hate.
Oh, great storm, claim your fury,
From deep within stop this madness!
More flashes of light,
Brighter than ever before,
Harder the water pushes downward,
The wind more fearsome than the mighty brick,
Explosions more than fireworks.
This storm so great,
Please you must stop this hate.
But never to listen,
Good will still come in the end,
When the storm has long left,
The destruction remains,
However, take hope,
Life will yet be renewed,
Now so much stronger than before,
Life goes on always when the storm of hates leaves.

With reference to the final line Alison:
Life ALWAYS goes on-
unfortunately, through all the pain and hate,
it is constant.
It's how we deal... that matters most;
an ode well endowed.
Feeling every word-
Billy

This was a really good poem. My first impression was that it was a commentary on the war in Iraq. However, upon more reflection, your poem could represent many things; ie racial prejudice, religious persecution, anything that hate thrives on. And ending your poem on a positive note left one with a hopeful feeling. |
