I want the veil to lift away,
And reveal through darkness,
That the sun stills shines,
No matter how cloudy the day.
I want to feel the air on my face;
And the wind to carry me away,
Lift the gauze before my eyes,
So I can see through more than gray.
I'll pull these bindings from my skin,
And learn to take another breath,
Inhale hope once again,
For once it is gone, I have nothing left.
I'll raise myself out from the dark,
And try to heal my heart,
For though it broke once again,
Each day's a brand new start.

I like it a lot...the title fits. I know where you're coming from. Well done, everyday is a new start and I have to remind myself of that a lot.
Keep it up,

Sweet Phil,
It's funny how I can read your poetry ... and then read it again
when you've posted and it seems all new to me. Like I'm seeing
it for the first time! I love how your writes can do that to me.
This was a sad and despondent write, but has a kind of
'lift' at the end. (I think the title is perfect, actually upon
further examination).
It's wonderful how your writes always invoke the emotions from
within to rise to the surface ... like the comfort of a friend.
I dunno ... probably not making much sense.
*hugs and all that jazz*
~Breezy
(hoping I made some sense at least to Phil) |

I'll bet there are more people that can and will relate to this better than you know. I certainly can.
"Inhale hope once again,
For once it is gone, I have nothing left."
Very true ... and accurate.
I enjoyed this Phil. Very much.

I really, really like this one. I can feel the desperation in your pen, in your words.
Take care, ok? Smile...

Philly,
Truly a wonderful write. Yes oh yes, how I can understand these feelings. I think my favorite stanza would be the last, each day giving new hope.
Thank you,

Well what can I say? long time no read!
I've had a manic day today reading poetry instead of attempting to write it and getting P***** and this is up there with todays best in my eyes.
Great work.

A moving and heartfelt write, and one I can certainly relate to as well. Yes, certainly keep hope alive.
Phil, just remember you are worth the effort!
