How You've Grown

Contributed by Jeff_Scott_Morehead on Monday, 13th March 2006 @ 01:23:42 PM in AEST
Topic: ChildrensPoetry

How You’ve Grown
~~
O’ how the years have flown
I’m amazed how you’ve grown
No more that little lad
Who would cry when he was mad
No more that cuddling baby
The one I held like crazy
A little man you turned out to be
A mere image of a little me
~~
Wish I held the hands of time
A few years I would unwind
Recapture those baby days
And those precious new-born ways
Settle in a lazy chair
And do nothing but simply stare
And watch you breathe and simply sigh
And sing my baby a lullaby

Jeff, this is something I think of often. My son is 11 now and growing every day. It is a bitter sweet thing to remember when he was a baby sleeping on my lap. This poem captures that feeling perfectly. Nice work!

My little boys 12 now and I'm in complete denial!

He took a young girl to the movies the other day and when it was mentioned it was his girlfriend I said "no way he's to young!"

they grow so quicky.

Nice work.

As always--a great write! I now watch my grandsons as they sleep--they are soooo precious. But time has it's way of growing them up quickly!
