Tonight Has No Memory

Contributed by the_story_of_the_year on Monday, 13th March 2006 @ 12:20:25 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

The snow lights up the night
The skyline speaks to me tonight
Saying come to me and I'll make it alright
There's no need to fear the moonlight

Roads that need my attention
On the edge of my seat
I will drive through the night
The faded horizon offering me
The thing I know I so despretely need

All that matters right now is me
And the destination I see
The state of mind I need
The peace that only emptyness can give me

I need to go now
I wish I could have stayed longer
We're just not meant to be
Someday you'll forget about me
And we'll be better off

I need to go now
I need to leave it all behind
Everything I've known so far
Has only been a lie

I hope I never see the sunrise
I hope tonight has no memory
I hope to start all over
I hope no one ever finds me

Short, meaningful, deep. A perfect poem.
