Many have asked
What inspires you to write?
Where does it come from?
My poetry is born
On nights such as this
Born in confusion
When cerebral impulses
Try to conquer the heart
Born in love
Especially when love
Does not appear to conquer all
Born in envy
When someone else provides
What I am unable to give
Born in grief
When it appears
That my losses
Outnumber the gifts I posses
My pen is a mere extension
An extension of my soul
When my lips fail me
My pen proves victorious
When I reach for my pen
A yearning and an aching awakens
Awakens my one desire
And that is simply
To be UNDERSTOOD!!
