Swimming in Opposite Directions

Contributed by xxnights_childxx on Friday, 10th March 2006 @ 08:45:20 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I think I must have loved you, somewhere along the line,
But now I'm not so sure, I find it quite hard to define,
They say opposites attract, but we were somewhat the same,
Teetering on the edge, but not enough to spark the flame,
You always said I was confused, and were ignorant to the fact,
That some people aren't the same, and you have to accept that,
We bicker like an old married couple, our morals are quite different,
And I can't live my life that way, always based on judgment,
We're swimming in opposite directions, but never getting that far,
And we're straining out to grasp, reaching out to a contrasting star
Then you'd seem perfect, but every time you'd smash the dream,
Thought that we were close, but I guess nothing is what it seems,
And I love you, yes I love you, but then I hate you, yes I hate you,
I just don't think that it could work, because I wouldn't remain true,
So swim in your direction, and I'll continue on in mine,
I'll forget you soon enough, with the passing of the time,
It's not meant to be harsh, but I think it needs to be said,
I want to be a free bird, I'd rather carry on alone instead,
But I want you to know, that you're the only one who truly cared,
And if I forget the chance at love, I wont forget the laughs we shared,
Life has many lessons for us, the path written in the sky so blue,
Its' taught me great things, but also, that I wasn't meant for you.

Wonderful poem. Sometimes people are put into your life for a reason and when that time is up they have made you a better person and it's time to move on. It sucks but you wrote it great it in here. Hope you find somebody that was meant to be in your life forever.
