So many of us wondering aimlessly,
drifting fom our paths.
Searching for a reason to go on.
Each of us looking for a purpose,
a meaning to this life.
Innocent to God's plan,
yet corrupted by each other,
we seek refuge within ourselves.
With this,
I drew away,
fearful of my own emotions,
retreating from society,
not daring to love,
no faith in my own actions.
I'd come to realize that I'd rather be without others
than feel the pain of their disappointment
of what I'd failed to become.
I, like many
spent too much time looking into the past,
forgetful of looking forward.
living in a daze,
existing but not living,
my heart cold and empty,
immersed in my own regret.
so sinful, yet innocent of how life should be lived.
He changed me.
Making me realize, we should embrace each moment,
and accept life for what it is.
He made me understand that I don't need to save the world
I have a different purpose,
to give of myself, all that I am,
and to let life unfold before me, in all it's splendor.
I will not be remembered for any great accomplishment.
but if I impact anyone.
I will have lived.

This poem is absolutely wonderful!!! I feel the same way about life and such. More afraid to love and have relationships with people than anything. I am gald for you that you had someone to show you that. Your poems are great and I will most definatly be looking forward to your next one!

Wow this was amazing. I don't know anybody who hasn't felt like this at one point in their lives. What you have written is so true. The one stanza that sticks out the most is:
"I will not be remembered for any great accomplishment.
but if I impact anyone.
I will have lived."
I was always brought up w/that saying. Wonderful write

Muses can be fickle creatures. I am heartened that one has found you. The crossover from death to life is childlike in its splendor, but remember the lessons despair teaches for fear of losing what splendor has to offer. |
