High and Low

Contributed by justme03 on Wednesday, 8th March 2006 @ 07:15:29 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Life is like a roller coaster ride,
a cereal box with a prize inside.
A smile is good til you turn it
upside down-- it is just a frown.

I'm always doing what I think
will get me off my feet but
it only makes me stick to this place
and I see nothing I do will save face.

I'm high and then low.
I get rocked back & forth
with the tide.
One minute alive
and then
5 seconds left before I die.

Life is like a CD in drive--
spinning round strife,
spinning round bliss.
Somethings I'd rather dismiss.

I'm always thinking I can go
faster than I am slow.
Slow's all that same as fast
when you start to lose gas.

I'm high and then low.
I get rocked back & forth
with the tide.
One minute alive
and then
5 seconds left before I die.

I keep thinking I can move on.
I keep finding that I am so wrong.
Round and round I go
trying to make it slow.

Slow's all the same as fast
when you start to lose gas.
Somethings I'd rather dismiss,
other things, I wish I didn't miss.

nicely done. Angst is captured here. How to live with the inabilities of oneself.

I really like this, there is some really clever wording in it. Stanzas 1-4 are really good, but I thought that the repetetivness at the end let the rest of the poem down a little bit.

Still, a very good write.

*hugs*

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
