Waiting on spring

Contributed by Lin54 on Wednesday, 8th March 2006 @ 01:09:02 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Waiting--just silently sitting, watching and waiting
For some little hint that springtime is now debating
Sunny yellow colored daff'dils dare to risk a peek
Through all the winter's havoc, the flowers try to sneak
Adding such glorious color where one would least expect
Near fallen trees, in a ditch, always they gain respect
Even though the sodden skies are still heavy with rain
The bright little faces add cheeriness once again
The heart of this earth seems to breathe a sigh of relief
Winter's passing -- the ground burst forth another green leaf
The crocuses were hidden too much from view this year
As if this wet weather just beat them back out of fear
But the sunny appearance that these daffodils bring
Tell me the sun will come out soon and so will the spring!
Thank you, Lord, for the colorful flowers of the field
They hold forth your bright promise that this season will yield!
