There twice lived a man that dwelled in the bricks
Not happy or sad or a man full of tricks
He lived lonely still but surrounded by red
"I will never decide or forgive you" he said
He watched from a far all the people live well
He wanted to join and come out I could tell
But he sat and he stood in his place of one
He was tired of life and could tell he was done
So I came again to his palace of solitaire
And climbed to the top which was once again bare
I called to him as I did before
He looked at me and my little heart tore
He was sitting around a pile of life
Trying to glue it he worked with such strife
He was crying but mad at what he knew he made
Trying to remember but it all seemed to fade
Saddened that he had forgotten how
Life goes by quickly, tomorrow is now
He could recall a time with such ease
When life seemed so fun and it was never hard to please
But now he just waits for end to be near
Something to look forward to and nothing to fear
For most of the day he just watches the wall
But for an hour a day he can walk very tall
He marches around with bottle in hand
Not caring about the world or its grand
He is brave and so proud and weakened by none
Mind is sharp but also clouded by sun
I spoke to him with a friendly voice
He looked at the ground as if no other choice
I unfolded my arms and sat up very straight
Then he looked up at me with such a strong hate
“I am sad too and with passion and hate
You can never erase and start with clean slate
But with imperfect actions and sad little lives
People can still concur and put away knives
No one will be perfect and they will be lacking lots
But give someone a chance to undo old knots
Find the in-between the whole is too rough
Put out you liquid strength and anger to snuff"
He looked at me as though he was to reply
And he glared at me with his naive and his shy
He knew the words well and I agreed to an extent
He squirmed around and kneeled with legs fully bent
“I am a man that was never put upon
With many I have burdened and sat right on
I can’t undo the past or right what I have wronged
So I will sit tight and not seek what I have longed
With bottle in hand I will be always here
Never to change and always pegged weird
For the moment not alone and I am always the one right
I never have to opinion or love or to fight"
I can’t say I object or speak with less ill
A man full of regret punishes himself still
I would join the man if I was as foolish as he
But world left full of things yet to see
I will say it now and I will say it again
I will never return to see my lonely friend
But that is a lie and I will come soon
To visit the man filled with such doom
A glutton for thee I must admit
For a wonder of the wall and willingness to sit
For a treasure was found in a man with such weak
A man in his wall and no curiosity to seek
He will drink his drink and sorrow feel
A person with nothing, not even love to steal
I will say my good byes and nod with such end
But I will see you soon my sick weathered friend.
