So close to you,
But you never knew.
The whole time I was there,
You never saw how much I care.
Behind the trees,
In the night with its warm breeze.
The light of the moon softly aglow,
To this I weep and woe.
Oh why must I hold you not,
All your life you have looked and sought,
Something to fill the hurt inside,
The gap runs deep and wide.
Will you never see,
My love for you, eternal within me?
Do you doom yourself to a fate so cold?
I longed for my fate, with you to grow old.
So close to you I was, am, and will be,
There right behind you though you will never see.
Like the moon thousands of light-years away,
Yet, clearly seen, here to stay.
So am I here behind, to the side, and above,
For you alone I hold nothing but love.
