The lines have been drawn

Contributed by the_story_of_the_year on Tuesday, 7th March 2006 @ 02:04:16 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

They grabbed me and pulled me back in
Even I know that I was falling away
I try to tell myself it was too soon
But I'll admit I don't know what's best for me

Knowing this much hurts
When you know you're at your worst
This hole feels like home
Especially when alone
With only yourself to blame

The lines have been drawn
And I've pushed them way too far
Crossed the first in innocence
But when you're 21 it doesn't make sense
Innocence is way past feeling

Take these chains
And break them in two
I'll take one half
If you'll take one too

I really liked this because the specifics aren't concrete or at least not for me but the message still comes across. Misery loving company? Tell me if I'm way off base, I really want to know. But good job because you have me thinking what's behind the words.

I really liked your poem a lot. It was short, concise and well written. And it made me think.
