It's like my heart is stretching,
Farther than it can bare.
Through the streets of Bakersfield
Right up through the polluted air
I long for you to be near
To cradle this fragile body of mine
I need you to look at me and say
Our love will not fade with the time
But even if i heard those words
Would i truly believe?
I can't stop thinking about the future
And what it holds for you and me
I sometimes dream we're married
Just like you said we'd be
On 20 beautiful acres
Filled with heavenly trees
Yet sometimes i tend to dream
You'll leave me here all alone
With no one to say "I love You"
And a heart made out of stone
I only wish i could believe
All the promises you make
But my mind is full of doubts
I guess i'll have to leave it to fate
