Death Song of Tomorrow's Sunrise

Contributed by eggflipper on Thursday, 2nd March 2006 @ 09:36:14 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Faceless souls,
stand seated
to the smell of black roses.
Our dress,
blackened in our Sunday best.
I sit alone
next to my faceless travellers,
staring,
at the soulless face
who will soon be joined.
Tomorrow will not come
for my mortal alter-ego,
yet,
the sun will cast
its lightless shadows on a new day,
and I will always
have the time
to stop
and smell the black roses.

I thought this better than most of death poetry I've read lately. But I can't tell if you meant this to be a good outlook or bad outlook or just indifferent. The words themselves seem hollow and flat and I guess that fits for your subject matter. I found it intriguing.
