Janie prepared well for her death
She threw away everything she owned
But a closer look
you will see
two dresses in the back
Found by me
One is black and long
The other is from her mother
But she hated it
So she ripped it to pieces
And hung it in her closet
For anyone to see.

So I see the ripped dress as destroying that link to her mother and relationships between mothers and daugthers in general or I'm reading too much into it. I will say it reads better as a series and not individually. |
