Us in Autumn
Walking in the park when its raining
I can see our eyes through my wet lashes
In a raindrop,
before it hits the damp grass.
On dry days
I can smell our skin
In the bonfire haze in the moment,
before it blows on.
When I drink at night
I can taste out mouths
In the first drop of wine
As it rough-slides down my throat.
In the damp cool of the night
I can hear what our voice would sound like
In a constant ever-changing strain of rhythm,
before it is lost in a passing engine.
In solitude, in unawareness, in emptiness
I can know us like a new colour or the future
For only a instant,
before we are lost in a faded world of duller colours.
