Not Like You or I

fences and families
friends and enemies
come to call
but who are they really
not like you or I

we sit down to dinner
always pretending
it's normal and all
the men are princes of men
and girls a little bit harlequin
not like you or I

The weather is great with a light
summer's breeze
hot and sticky
not what you'd believe
and not like you or I

The congregation's beginning
with this suddenly ill feeling
they keep on going
not like you or I

One day we'll notice
that horrible thing
that everyone talks about
and everyone sees
not like you or I.
