A Million Pieces

Contributed by The_Phantom on Wednesday, 1st March 2006 @ 10:34:19 AM in AEST
Topic: abstract

My world is in a million pieces,
My soul is battered and bruised,
My heart yearns for a love that’s true,
I close my eyes, Lord let me see,
How is the world without little ol’ me,

Is it a better place, do they have smiles on their face,
Do they cry tears of joy, do they sing hymns without names,
Do they remember if I was here, or do they weep silent tears?
Is the past still the past, or has the future arrived at last,

Does tomorrow bring a sunny day, or has hope all but faded away,
Does my poetry still receive praise, or is it buried in this casket, in which I lay,
It matters not if I’m dead; thoughts of poetry remain in my head,
Though my pen may cease to write, it’s the words I wrote that keep me alive,

Have I been forgotten, will I be remembered,
The question that burns is the one that hasn’t been answered,

“Why must my death define my existence?”

Forever Faithful
The Phantom

A really good job here. I enjoyed this write. I like how you went from an explanation into two stanzas of questions.

Keep Writing!
