The Gift of a Goddess

Contributed by eggflipper on Tuesday, 28th February 2006 @ 12:26:35 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

You have walked upon the water
I have written about.
In vain, I tried to describe the object
that you have mastered beneath your feet.
So far the road is I've still to conquer
and within a shared breath
you have finished the journey
in a single stride.
And within your stride,
you gave me a glimpse of what I need to understand.
This is your gift.

But my how the mighty have fallen
when strong legs and arrogance have crumbled.
Crumbled in a vain attempt
to show respect to the lamb
who has conquered the lion.
You now lay content with your predator
with whom you have given asylum in your bed.
You have always excelled
in fighting the battles inside.

The world is no longer the battlefield,
it is your playground.
Still, you let me tag along
and let me play as children want to.

Shall I call you woman.
No.
Shall I call you wife,
sister,
mother,
Mary.
No.
Since I know of only my fleshly confessions,
such grand conceptions are beyond me.

There is always so much wisdom within your writes. Makes the reader pay attention to your vivid details and the art and power of you word. Nicely done.
