A violet smile uttered toiler of fields
brought bright endearment
broke television's breath
stoned phones
stretched night
sipped sun
spoke silver like an almond moon riding
the colorless dawn.
Morning became a sick bird
vomited
lame
unwilling to fly
unwilling to survive.
Morning became a sick bird
and we became her wings.
I remember tussled hair
in mountains that I have never seen.
A blue mount crumbled by its steed
riding the edge of memory.
In the end we were quiet
waiting for the Dr.
waiting for some word
some question of hope.
There was no hope.
The lobby was a painted slip
slipping in the silences
of a new life.
The feeling was sudden
supreme
sickening
satisfying
startling
like an old dream
dreaming itself to sleep.
My shoulder was soaked
My eyes slid shut to the sting
of the bright lights
and i opened the door
and i sat in the car
and I looked at my hands.

Vivid work. There's a surreal air of sadness about this, strange but rather moving. And I love that ending.
