Ghost of a Rose

Contributed by themonk on Monday, 27th February 2006 @ 08:36:54 AM in AEST
Topic: abstract

I’ve written a note,
On the back of our picture.
Pressed between the pages
Of this book, that lies on your desk.
Placed between the roses and the memories
That I have left for us.
Please cherish them, tuck them in the pockets
Of your chest,
And please let me know that I have
Done my best.

Remember when our love was young?
Hopes as high as mountains
And kisses as smooth as
Summer’s wind?
Well now our bridges are burning
And who am I to say,
Which one of us will runaway.

Its midnight now, and I
Begin to pack.
Careful not to wake you,
Fearing confrontation.
Wishing I could shake this puzzle
And restart the situation.
Clutching my heart as I watch you sleep,
My shoes are cold as I beat concrete.
Crippling shells as metal leaks,
The night is frigid and so the frozen leaves.

Letting time swallow me as I corrode,
I am another victim, a ghost of a rose.
